There is limited financial benefit to grouping items together in one package to reduce shipping costs.

UPS now charges by the higher of actual weight vs dimensional weight. Specifically, if you have 10 items that are all 4 pounds the items have a total weight of 40 pounds. The shipping charges will be about the same if those 40 pounds are divided up into 10 different boxes of 4 pounds or 1 box of 40 pounds. 40 pounds equals 40 pounds regardless of how many boxes it is divided into. In addition, UPS takes volume (space taken up on their trucks and airplanes) into consideration when determining shipping costs. There may be less human interaction in shipping one large box. But, the total weight remains unchanged and a larger box takes up more space within their transportation systems.

For example, if you have one small box which has a steel plate in it weighing 50 pounds, UPS will charge based on 50 pounds. However, if you have a large box of feathers that weighs 5 pounds; but, that box takes up a lot of space, UPS will charge according to dimensional weight (space used) so they may charge at a similar rate as the small box of steel.

In summary, UPS charges the higher of actual weight vs dimensional weight (as they calculate it). In so doing there is little cost savings in grouping items together.

Perfect Closing Gift has streamlined our shipping costs in an attempt to make the calculation of shipping easier. As such, we only calculate shipping based on the state the gift is shipping to.

We do not pass along extra fees (unless a product has been delivered to a wrong address and needs to be rerouted).
